Stylin’ During Rendezvous Royale Week

August 17th, 2015 by Park County Travel Council | Be the first to comment!

I don’t want to brag, but around the town of Cody, I’m pretty well known as a cowgirl fashionista.

I have and wear it all, from fringed leather jackets to intricately designed pendants, almost always with my day-of-the-week cowboy boots. (Yes, I have seven pairs of cowboy boots. Doesn’t everyone?)

Even my home is known for its style, and almost every wall is adorned with something distinctive that reflects my love of the American West.

The Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale is a nationally renowned Western art show & sale.

But maintaining my reputation as an ever-stylin’ cowgirl-about-town means that I’m constantly updating my wardrobe, jewelry and art collections with the latest pieces by the best Western designers. That’s why every year I’m always among the first to register for the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale during Cody’s Rendezvous Royale week September 21-26, 2015.

Now in its 34th year, this annual event is one of the biggest art shows in the American West, and it draws art enthusiasts from around the country. The show kicks off with a reception and a silent auction beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26. At the reception in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, we’ll get our first look at the artwork on sale by more than one hundred Western painters and sculptors. You can’t bid yet, but you can see some of the silent auction pieces now.

Come listen, sing along and kick up your heels at this year’s Jam Royale

This year, Rendezvous Royale will include a new Western music extravaganza on Sept. 24 called the Jam Royale with Wylie and the Wild West Band. Western dance fans, this is the event for you. And although it falls on a Thursday, I might even wear my Saturday boots to the event. I’m a traditionalist when it comes to cowboy boots, and my Saturday boots are especially great for kicking up my heels, and that’s exactly what I intend to do that night.

On Friday, September 25, though, things get serious, and I might have to wear my Sunday boots. This is the night when extraordinarily talented Troy Black auctions off some fabulous Western art, and if you want one of these pieces you need to keep your wits about you. I learned this one the hard way a couple of years ago when I was among the bidders for a stunning painting by last year’s honored artist, Jim Wilcox. But one of my table-mates chose that time to launch a conversation about my favorite singing cowboy – I like talking about singing cowboys almost as much as I like showing off my boots — and I was momentarily distracted when the bidding closed.

Boot Scootin Boogie 3012

Enjoy live music and a runway fashion show as well as local artisans showcasing their unique talents

Rendezvous Royale includes a heck of a lot more too. Like the Boot Scoot ‘N Boogie on Saturday, September 19. I’m definitely wearing my Saturday boots to that event. Downtown Cody is closed to traffic, and the locals and visitors alike come out for a day of live music and a Western-themed runway fashion show.

I hope you will join me and my friends for all of the big events and a whole lot of fun during the 2015 Rendezvous Royale week here in Cody.   Show your support for our fabulous Western artists by bidding often at the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale.

Until next time, I’m countin’ my pennies and shining my boots…
